Siddhant ganore's confession in front of independant witness reveals chilling details of the day he allegedly killed his mother and wrote a message with a smiley in her blood on the wall.
Chilling details have emerged from the charge sheet filed against Siddhant Ganore, who has been accused of killing his mother Deepali in cold blood in May this year The murder came to be known as the smiley-face murder as the killer wrote a message on the wall with the victim's blood "Tired of her Catch me and hang me complete with a smiley at the end. While the 20-year-old back- tracked from confessing his alleged guilt before a magistrate, as he had agreed to do earlier, the 172-page charge sheet, filed in the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Saturday, does include Ganore's state- ment before two independent (panch) witnesses.
Legal experts, however, question the admissibility of a state- ment given in police custody. In his 'confession' before the two witnesses, Ganore, who is the son of a police inspector, describes his gruesome actions, including stabbing her in the neck repeatedly while sitting on her body and poking her stab wound to stop her from biting his hand. In a particularly chilling state- ment, he says when he saw his bare, bloody torso in the mirror after the crime, he laughed Recalling the fateful day, May 23 Ganore allegedly told the witnesses that his mother was in her bedroom when he approached her with a knife around noon. "Before my mom could understand anything, I stabbed her in her neck with the knife. She tried to stop me, therefore I sat on her and stabbed her in the neck again. As her finger nails scratched me, pressed her mouth with my right hand, and she bit my finger. To stop her, I put my finger in her wound, which startled her and she let go," he told the witnesses. He then went on to explain how he sat on her, tied her mouth with a scarf and then dragged her life- less body from the bed to the floor. "I then saw myself in the mirror there was blood on my torso. Seeing that blood, laughed. Then I went close to her again and using the blood oozing out of her neck, I wrote, 'Tired of her, catch me and hang me, and made a smiley. He then says tha he bathed, leaving the short wearing in the bathroom. These blood-soaked shorts bearing his mother's blood is the most clinching piece of evidence the vakola police have against the 20 year-old, as the forensics team have concluded a DNA match. Deepali's body was found by her husband, police inspector ar Ganore in the wee hours of May 24 Ganore fled the city after the murder, with Rs 2 lakh in cash and some clothes. He was arrested on May 25 from a Jodhpur hotel and brought back to Mumbai. He is currently in judicial custody.
The chargesheet cites 37 witnesses including 12 formal witnesses, seven police officers from Rajasthan, over Nine from vakola police station forensic experts and Dnyaneshwar Ganore's statement .in his statement to the police Dnyaneshwar has and Deepau got married in 1995 and Siddhant was born two years later. He said that Deepali completed her LLB after marriage and began practiclng as a lawyer and later completed her LlM from Queen Mary University Londan . However Siddhant was not doing very well in studies both the parents were worried for him. In 2012, he secured admission in Mithibal College for commerce and after he completed his Std X11 secured admission in an engineering college in Thane . Because of Siddhant's education, she didn't continue her legal practice, But Siddhant failed in a few subjects in his firstt year, and stopped going to college after he gave his third semester exams, and sat at home.
Family strife
He says that around this time, his wife slipped into depression as she felt that she wasn't able to make use her education or pursue a care'er.This started affecting the entire house-hold. The father says he then took siddhant to The National College and got h im admitted in Ist year bsc but he did not show interest in that as well
My wife desired that he should study engineering, so we got him to appear for his engineering entrance exam Because of these events, she was under immense stress and stopped going out of the house. To get out this situation, we visited a psychiatrist and started medication. There was a lot of disturbance in the house because of her mental and health, tried to get the situation under con trol." In fact, he says, on the day of the murder, he had spoken to his wife as his son was supposed to collect his marksheet. His wife in turn informed him that his son, who had been avoiding it, was stil not ready There are several people Ganore names in his statement.
